About LinkBacksWhen I edit my .html pages using my cPanel, the editor works fine for everything except for my homepage, index.html.
Is there something specific I am supposed to do to change the homepage other than editing the file?

No, editing and saving it should be enough. If you are viewing an old version of the page try clearing your browsers cache.
