I've been told that bevels such as I have are the hallmark of terrible web design, but I really like the way it looks in this case. Any opinions at all?

maybe it would appear better if the remaining area (white now) is light green too or some shade with green...
if you make the left panel beveled too, i think it wont be as graceful, at least to me.
