where to insert ad code

Hi guys know everyones probably tired of ad questions but here's another. First I did search the forum manually and via search button. If there was already a answer to this I didnt see it I'm sorry. My problem: i'm a newbie to php thats what my site is in phpnuke.

I have the advance package,I know which code to use I just dont know where to place the code. I tried taking the code and making a php file then placing it in the root directory but that didnt work. Where should I put it ?
